Nevada Health Centers (NVHC) Elko Family Medical & Dental Center staff had the opportunity to be interviewed by a local radio station. Elko Broadcasting Company invited NVHC staff to talk about the roll-out of the new Behavioral & Mental Health Elko Area Resource Guide.
The guide, created in partnership with PACE Coalition and supported by a grant from the Community Foundation of Elko County, highlights a selection of medical, behavioral/mental health, and social service providers in and around the Elko area.
Erin Bernius, NVHC Marketing Outreach Specialist along with Wendy Charlebois, Zero Suicides Elko County and Katie Neddenriep, Community Foundation of Elko County all spoke about the importance of not only the guide itself, but for the community to know about local services so they can get the help they may need. Nevada, especially rural areas have needed behavioral health resources for many years. While there’s always room for improvement for more resources, it’s beneficial for the community to know about the resources that Elko does have at hand.
Thousands of guides have already been distributed throughout the area. The Elko County School District played a major role in delivering hundreds of guides to school counselors and nurses.
A special thank you goes out to the Beverly E. Coleman Nevada Health Foundation for their assistance on the guide along with Vitality Center Elko and the Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital. It takes a great team and a great community to accomplish a project like this one.
